  How to Apply to the Workboat Academy

        The Pacific Maritime Institute requires the following conditions to be met prior to acceptance in to our Two Year Vocational program to Mate 500 / 1600 GRT Program: 

  • Minimum age of 19

  • High School Transcript, GED or Equivalent (call for more information on equivalency)

  • United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Document - Click here for Guidance

  • Valid Passport for a period of 2 years from start of program

  • Successful completion of our Mathematical Competency Exam (This examination is self proctoring, if you cannot pass this examination after reviewing the guidance you will require further education in the area of mathematics. - Click here to Download

  • Complete an interview with the Workboat Mate Program Manager.

  • Complete an interview with the company you are interested in sailing with.

  • All finances in order.  First payment due 30 days prior to commencement of program.  If you require a loan, mention this to the program manager and you will be guided through the process of receiving financial aid.
